DCU Plain language statement
The title of this research project is Morpheus. This project aims to explore if three different media pieces create an interconnecting experience that gives users an insight into the dreams of a young person, whilst causing reflection about their own dreams. Secondary goals of the project are to explore which form of media (virtual reality, animation, film) generates the greatest immersion levels in an online exhibition and if flow be achieved in an online exhibition.

Dr. Pat Brereton and Dr. Marcos Dias of DCU are the allocated supervisors for this major project. Participants must be aware that this project will involve the execution of an online exhibition that will be open to the general public from the 24th of April 2020 and will also be displayed in an exhibition consisting of all Multimedia final year projects November 2020.
The data collected from this research study may be collected in the form of a transcribed interview, audio recording, video interview or survey. GDPR regulations apply to this collection of data, storage and use of data. Data collected for this research project will be protected in a private Google Drive folder that is only accessible to the five members of this project. All data collected from this project will be deleted from Google Drive on the 12th of November 2020, six months after the submission of this project. The data that will be collected may be subject to being publicised within the thesis write up which will be available in the DCU Glasnevin O’Reilly Library.
The data collected within this project may also be used within the five members’ future portfolios. The DCU Data Protection Officer – Mr. Martin Ward (data.protection@dcu.ie Ph: 7005118 / 7008257) is available for further information on how your data may be stored. Recipients of the data collected will include the five members of the project, the two supervisors of the project, any examiner grading the project, visitors of the DCU library who may access the project when it is on display and members of the public who attend the exhibition.

Please be aware that a part of this experience involves a sleep paralysis simulation that people may find triggering. It also contains flashing imagery that may be harmful to people with photosensitive epilepsy.

Involvement in this project is voluntary and you are free to withdraw from participation at any time during this study. Participants involved in this project have permission to use this project at their discretion with no alterations made to the final project. Participants must be aware that it is possible for data to be subject to subpoena, freedom of information claim or mandated reporting.
